As I begin my third year as president of Tidewater Community College, I continue to be moved by the stories students tell me about how TCC has changed their lives. Our graduates say that TCC gave them not only knowledge and skill, but also the confidence to “be who they want to be and go where they want to go.”
Still, many students and their families are hesitant about pursuing higher education because of their perception of high cost and the prospect of crippling student debt.
I can’t guarantee that you will be completely debt-free after you complete a two-year degree or certificate at TCC, but I will guarantee this: You will be paying less than half of what a four-year college in Virginia costs, and many thousands less than at for-profit colleges. And your education will take you where you want to go, whether into an in-demand career or into a four-year college to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
